The Common Core of State Standards which the NWEA test is built on covers many different areas of math.

Some of those areas are, but not limited to: Geometry, Algebra, Statistics, and Probability.

Each of these areas use basics skills beyond the simple operations of: add, subtract, multiply, divide, exponents and parenthesis.

Each one of those areas assumes the students already has a working knowledge of: fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and proportions.

If a students does not feel comfortable and familiar with these basic skills then they will struggle with how each area of math

can apply to real life situations or working conditions and expectations from future employers.
